House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday insisted that freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar immediately apologize for tweets saying that members of Congress are being paid by a powerful interest group to support Israel.The leaders' statement came in the hours after a pair of powerful House chairman rebuked Omar for the remarks.When a user asked who Omar believes is paying U.S. politicians to support Israel, the former Somali refugee tweeted a one-word response: "AIPAC!"AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has formidable financial clout, and it prides itself on its influence in U.S. politics.Omar has been critical of Israel's government over its treatment of Palestinians.
