As Europe grapples with hundreds of thousands of Muslim refugees from Syria, Eritrea and Afghanistan, among others, ISIS is destroying world heritage monuments in Palmyra. As thousands of Muslims in the West have joined the jihad in Syria, hundreds of thousands of their Syrian brethren have sought refuge in Europe – not unlike the parents of European extremists decades ago. Muslim countries, apart from Syria's neighbors, have done precious little to host Syrian refugees. Rapidly vanishing Christian and other minorities in Syria and Iraq have attracted some sympathy but almost no assistance from countries in the Muslim world. It seems inexplicable that countries employing millions of migrant workers from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan cannot accommodate tens of thousands of Syrian refugees who are not only Muslim but also Arab.Russia's human rights abuses in the Caucuses as well as it's marginalization of Tatar and other Muslim minorities is hardly ever raised by Muslim countries such as Iran.
