There are three years remaining until the Centennial of Greater Lebanon.A decadelong campaign commemorating the Centennial of Greater Lebanon titled "Lebanon 2020 the state for knowledge," was launched in 2010 by MP Bahia Hariri, the head of the National Initiative for the Centennial of Greater Lebanon.The National Initiative for the Centennial of Greater Lebanon was an effort created to stimulate dialogue and activities across the country in the ten years to 2020, to ensure that the 100th anniversary of Lebanon is celebrated and commemorated in ways that reinforce our nation's role as a knowledge state.On the 96th anniversary of the establishment of Greater Lebanon, held at the Lebanese Parliament on Sept. 1, 2016, under the patronage of Speaker Nabih Berri, the NICGL "Loubnaniyat 2020: Lebanon the state for knowledge" held an event honoring Lebanese female leaders in public administration, universities of scientific research, Parliament, ambassadors, institutions such as Banque du Liban and the Council for Development and Reconstruction, the National Council for Scientific Research and distinctive students in Lebanese Baccalaureate exams, as well as honoring female ambassadors to Lebanon and heads of the United Nations and international organizations in Lebanon.
