Oprah Winfrey's rousing speech over the weekend was not only a challenge to successful women to use their fame and popularity for worthy causes, such as empowering women, fighting corruption and doing charity work, it was also a demonstration of that capacity put to use. With Oprah's monumental fame and a fortune of over $2 billion, she could have sat on her laurels and enjoyed an easy life.Oprah's words reverberated in the homes of millions, touching a sensitive nerve beyond cultures, creeds, religions and color, with no-nonsense words that will always be remembered as a turning point for the empowerment of women. And should Oprah be swayed to run for the highest U.S. office in 2020, such qualities would probably once more afford America the compassion that sets an example for human relations.
