The Lebanese men's national team have been invited to play in the West Asian Basketball Association championship on May 23, which serves as a qualifier for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia Cup to take place in China in July, but their participation is impossible as long as FIBA's ban remains active. The Lebanese Basketball Federation's attempts to lift the ban were encouraged by the visit of its president, Walid Nassar, to FIBA headquarters in Geneva earlier this week.If the ban is successfully lifted, the national team will not have long to prepare for WABA.Head of the national team committee Nazih Bawji has suggested Spanish head coach Josep Claros, who is the former Mexican national team coach, as a possible option.
