Real Madrid to reject Chelsea bid for star winger

BEIRUT: Jose Mourinho has reportedly told Real Madrid to block any bid from his former club Chelsea for 23-year-old winger Angel Di Maria.

Di Maria is reportedly unhappy with his salary in the Spanish capital and the Daily Mail has said Chelsea could offer a bid as high as around $60 million.

The Daily Mail has also reported that Newcastle want to bring striker Andy Carroll back from Liverpool. The striker has come in with criticism from Liverpool fans and a return to Newcastle may allow his confidence to improve.

Didier Drogba may leave Chelsea at the end of the year to join Jean Tigana in China at Shanghai Shenhua. Insidefutbol.com reports that the Ivorian will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Fiorentina will come in for Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh, says soccerplay.net. A possible loan deal is being talked about for the remainder of the season with a permanent move to take place in the summer. Chamakh told Sud Ouest: “I will weigh up the pros and cons.”

If the move to Fiorentina doesn’t materialize, a return to Bordeaux could be on the cards.

“I always said if I had to return to France, it would be with Bordeaux,” Chamakh said.

Andre Villas-Boas wants to energize his team with some younger players as the core of his squad are all the wrong side of 30. Villas-Boas has told Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that he wants FC Porto’s Radamel Falcao, according to footballfriendsonline.com.

In other news related to Chelsea, Gary Cahill’s move looks to be close to completion according to Football365.com.

Real Madrid’s Esteban Granero could leave on loan and Sebastian Bassong could leave Tottenham, reports goal.com. Granero could join former Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga, where as Bassong hasn’t been linked with a particular destination.
