Messi has dominated the award along with Ronaldo over the past decade, but the Barcelona star has been omitted from the contenders list for the first time since 2006 .Messi and Ronaldo, the world's two best players, have been engaged in a fascinating duel for the sport's top individual and club honors for over a decade. Between them, Messi and Ronaldo have won the Champions League nine times and have a combined 14 domestic league titles.
