Lebanon's Bachrouche wins 3rd gold medal at Arab Games

BEIRUT: Lebanon’s Katya Bachrouche has won a third gold medal in the 2011 Arab Games in Doha.

Bachrouche was competing in the Women’s 800-meters freestyle final Wednesday and finished with a final time of 8:44.50.

Moroccan Sara el Bekri finished second at 8:49.67 and Reem Kassem of Egypt finished third at 9:02.71.

Earlier in the competition, 22-year-old Bachrouche received a gold medal in the women’s 200 meters and 400 meter freestyle as well as two bronze medals for the women’s 100-meter butterfly and 50-meter freestyle.

Bachrouche will compete again Thursday evening in the Women's 200m Individual Medley along with fellow Lebanese swimmer, Nibal Yamout. 

Elsewhere in the Arab Games, Lebanese Ray Bassil won a silver medal after placing second in the Women's Trap Shooting final.
