Schools move into Round 2 for LRUF Rugby 10s cup

BEIRUT: Brummana High School, Champville, Jamhour, Lycee Ashrafieh, a combined team of Tripoli schools, ACS and Mont La Salle move into Round 2 this weekend of the schools Rugby 10s cup.

Organized by the Lebanese Rugby Union Federation, the second round will be held at the Lebanese University on Feb. 12 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Round 1 was played on Dec. 11, and students from over eight schools participated. The standings at the moment see BHS in first place while Champville and Jamhour are hot on their heels in second and third place respectively. Lycee, Tripoli and ACS make up the bottom three slots.

The results of Sunday’s tournament will decide the makeup of a squad of 22 players that will represent Lebanon in the International School Tournament in the first week of April in Dubai.

Ghassan Hajjar, vice chairman of the LRUF and the national coach and development officer, Steve Wrigglesworth,will supervise the tournament. The Chairman of the referee association, Serge Sabbagha, will organize the refereeing.
