Child labor is a widespread phenomenon in the Middle East and North Africa region and a severe problem in Lebanon, where, according to Myrna Chamieh from Caritas Lebanon, about 100,000 children under the age of 16 work. Caritas Lebanon has set up a program of evening studies to support children who face the threat of dropping out of school and into the labor market.
