For a small but sturdy crowd tucked into the first few benches of the American University of Beirut's Assembly Hall on Tuesday night, composer Zad Moultaka presented a concert of Arabic mouwashahat, weaving his inventive approach to piano playing into the more traditional textures of the oud, percussion, and Fadia Tomb al-Hage's sometimes haunting, sometimes slinky voice.
