Detente between rival Arab states has eased political pressures in Lebanon, lowering the stakes for a June general election which is likely to produce another broad government grouping rival factions. The thaw in ties between Syria and Saudi Arabia and overtures from the new US administration toward Damascus have taken the sting out of a Lebanese political.
