BEIRUT: MPs and youth organizations condemned Thursday Parliament's rejection earlier this week to lower the voting age to 18, blaming religious and sectarian demographic considerations by political parties. Tripoli MP Najib Mikati said that failing to pass the amendment to lower the voting age to 18 reflected the inability of state institutions to assume their role given the ongoing tug of war among political parties.
