Elections in the Bekaa were plagued by allegations of candidates buying votes and withholding voter registration cards by both sides of the political divide. In the third district's villages, which include a majority of Sunnis voters and a minority of Shiites, Druze and Christian, polling stations witnessed a crucial competition between the Future Movement-Progressive Socialist Party coalition and the "Bekaa Referential" list.
