General Michel Aoun's overwhelming victory in the third round of parliamentary elections in Mount Lebanon and Zahle propelled him into the leadership position of the 21 seat parliamentary bloc. Held on Sunday in Mount Lebanon and the Bekaa districts, the polls were the fiercest round so far of the country's first elections to be held free.
