Those politicians who opposed the qada-based electoral draft law on the basis it would confirm sectarianism in the country have dramatically failed to prove that the 2000 law they approved instead was a guarantee against this threat. All this reinstated legislation has done so far is reinforce the divisions in Parliament into clear-cut confessional blocs ready to engage in a sectarian battle at any moment.
