Washington again pointed an accusing finger at Syria following the murder of Lebanese politician George Hawi, insisting Damascus was responsible for an "atmosphere of instability" which led to Beirut's third political assassination in four months. Hawi, a former leader of the Lebanese Communist Party and vocal critic of Syria in recent years.
