Any possible international economic sanctions on Syria will have no major impact because the country is self-sufficient and does not have a large external debt, a Syrian official said on Tuesday. "Pressure on Syria has a weak impact on the economy this year," said Mustafa al-Kafri, director of the investment authority, told The Daily Star.
