Cancellations were many on Beirut's music scene, but the soundtrack of the year is rambunctious and even hopeful

Rather than compile a list of the year's best music as heard in and from Beirut, it might be more appropriate to run through all the cancellations that dented a sizable chip on Lebanon's cultural shoulder this year. For the second year in a row, the music festivals in Baalbek and Beiteddine were shelved.
