Cairo's cinema fest wraps up a promising year, but leaves questions about the formidable role of the Egyptian public unanswered

It's not uncommon to see film festival journalists rushing into screening rooms a minute or so after the movie's supposed to have started. On this particular day, about half-way through the Cairo International Film Festival, the destination is the Turkish film "Concrete Pillow," by Fatih Hacios Monoglu, at a small theater in the Cairo Opera.
