Internecine fighting between the two most powerful forces in the Palestinian firmament threatens to bring disaster on the very people on behalf of whom both sides claim to do battle. It would be bad enough if Fatah, the traditional champion of Palestinian rights, and Hamas, the new claimant to that title, were limiting their immature, unproductive and increasingly irrelevant rivalry to verbal jousting.
