Mali asylum seekers turned away by Morocco have disappeared from their desert camp on the border with Mauritania, humanitarian and security services said. The 34 migrants were escorted by Moroccan troops to the border on Thursday where they were held in reception tents waiting for authorization from Nouakchott, the Mauritania capital, to enter the country.
