If independence is the goal, Lebanon's opposition is lethargic

It rained on Lebanon's Independence Day parade last Monday, as well it should have, but it was water off a duck's back to the republic's grandees. So shameless in accepting an extension of the president's mandate, they were never going to fret much about the true meaning of independence in this the 28th year of Syrian rule.
