"We will not sell you out." That is the message the White House continues to repeat to its allies in Lebanon who fear the return of Syrian hegemony. That message is particularly relevant today as Lebanon will soon enter a presidential election period. Washington has publicly stated it will not abandon Lebanon to Damascus for the sake of regional stability.
