Four grenades found near Sunday Market in Beirut suburb

BEIRUT: Four grenades were discovered in the Sin el-Fil area of Beirut over the weekend and are being examined to see whether they are operational.

The four grenades had been left at the side of the Nahr Beirut River- Jisr al-Wati near the Sunday Market, in the Sin el-Fil area, security sources told The Daily Star Saturday.

Units from the local police station immediately cordoned off the area and bomb experts managed to retrieve the four grenades after ascertaining that they had not been rigged to explode.

The four grenades were sent to a military lab to see whether the grenades are still active, the sources added.
