Van Gogh meets abstract impressionism in her retrospective of paintings.Visitors to Amyuni's exhibition can almost hear those wings beating against the wind in her paintings. Some elements of Amyuni's paintings deliberately stray from a straightforward portrayal and instead represent her surroundings with a reckless abandon. The purpose of the exhibition seems to be to question what anchors our reality and perception of home: Is it in the minor details or the bigger picture? The heavy brushstrokes accentuate the blocks of color and remind us to step back and take comfort in the simple things.Rima Amyuni's solo exhibition "Paradis Fleuri" is at Agial art gallery through March 11 .
