destiny to play PicassoEvery morning Antonio Banderas used to walk past Pablo Picasso's childhood home to go to school, so he was destined to play the great painter. Finally Banderas has said yes, twice. He's playing Picasso in "Genius Picasso," a 10-part television series on the artist's life, helmed by Ron Howard, and in a film written by Carlos Saura on the artist's anti-war masterpiece "Guernica". Picasso loomed large over Banderas' childhood in Malaga, the Andalusian port where they were born only four streets apart.Banderas recalls meeting Picasso's daughter Paloma when he first arrived in Los Angeles and spoke very little English.
