When Karen Chekerdjian looks at a piece of furniture, she sees all its inherent possibilities. In 2010, Chekerdjian launched her own showroom near Beirut Port. Besides producing her own line, she also participates in fairs and exhibitions locally and internationally. Chekerdjian was the first Lebanese to participate in the Design Miami / Basel Fair with a solo show in collaboration with Carwan Gallery. Her collection was called "TransIForm" and included limited edition designs. For this collection she toyed with the idea of transforming objects by taking the functional elements of a piece of furniture and exploiting its artistic element, she said. She said her participation in the Design Miami/Basel Fair worked to reinvigorate her approach. Many design critics at the fair had labeled her more of an artist than a designer.
