BEIRUT: Amal Movement MP Ghazi Zeaiter said Monday that the Turkish state is responsible for following up on the case of the 11 kidnapped male pilgrims.

Zeaiter, who spoke to the Daily Star, said that he was mis-quoted by the National News Agency (NNA) correspondent while he was delivering a speech during a rally in Bekaa on Sunday.

“I called on the Turkish state to continue following up on their case and to coordinate with the government, “said Ghazi Zeaiter.

Zeaiter , who praised Turkey’s role in this case, added that the term “responsibility “he referred to in his speech holds no negative connotation.

“In contrary, I said responsible for follow up and not for the incident itself,” clarified Zeaiter.
