Lebanese Army makes key arrest in Bekaa Valley

BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army arrested a group of Syrian fighters in the border village of Arsal in the northern Bekaa Valley, the state-run National News Agency reported Thursday evening.

Mohammad Abdeldayem al-Aaraj, a top fighter with the Free Syrian Army was among those arrested, according to the NNA. Aaraj repotedly heads FSA’s Military Council in the Syrian regions of Qusair and Qalamoun on the border with Lebanon, the NNA said.

The Syrian military backed by Hezbollah forces have recently regained control of Qalamoun after the alliance had recaptured Qusair nearly one year ago.
