2015 is a special year for global development in which new global goals for humanity's future will be shaped.Apart from these and other scheduled events, many issues will be key in the development agenda, such as the issue of global security.Eight months are left to reach the target date for achieving the U.N.'s Millennium Development Goals; and work is now underway to agree on a new global development framework during the United Nations summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda that will be held from Sept. 25-27 in New York and convened as a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly. The Post-2015 development agenda will aim at eradicating poverty through sustainable development. The 2,000 targets were few – just 374 words that changed the world.Consequently, in addition to the 2015 top priority areas such as: human development, food security and civil society, humanitarian advocacy is one of the first priorities in the development area focusing on easing budgetary constraints on humanitarian assistance, strengthening the link between humanitarian assistance and civil protection, improving protection for vulnerable groups in emergency situations and stepping up private sector engagement in the delivery of humanitarian aid.
