BEIRUT: Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri Wednesday adjourned a presidential election vote to Dec. 2 due to lack of quorum.

Lawmakers have failed in 31 consecutive sessions to elect a successor to former President Michel Sleiman since his term ended May 25, 2014, amid a feud between the country's rival factions on a candidate accepted by both blocs.

The failure to elect a successor to Sleiman has plunged the country into a presidential impasse that has paralyzed Parliament and threatens to collapse the Cabinet.
