Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and his March 14 ally Kataeb leader Sami Gemayel have agreed that all efforts must be put toward electing a president, a statement released by Hariri's media office said Tuesday.Hariri has been holding a series of meetings with Lebanese leaders in an attempt to reach a national political settlement in the country to end the ongoing deadlock.Earlier this month, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, Hariri's chief political foe, called on Lebanon's rivals to come together to reach an all-encompassing national settlement that would solve the country's main problems, including the presidential void. A separate statement by the Future parliamentary bloc after its weekly meeting called for measures to be taken by the country's political factions to reach a national settlement that will protect the country's National Charter and implement the Taif Accord.
