Mayor Jamal Itani announced Wednesday his intention to make Beirut a disability-friendly city as part of the "Beirut 2020" project.U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Sigrid Kaag called for a clear program that would cater to people with disabilities as they traveled around Beirut.U.N. Special Envoy on Disability and Accessibility, Lenin Moreno, shed light on the many factors that can stop people with disabilities from realizing a fulfilling life.Tourism Minister Michel Pharaon accepted that the project would be a challenge for Beirut's municipality.At the conclusion of the meeting, attendants agreed to draw up an executive plan that would make Beirut the most disability-friendly city in the region.
