In 2016, AUB is commemorating the 150th Anniversary of its founding in 1866, reflecting on its distinguished history, and articulating its ambitions for the future. It contributed to the mission of Lebanon the "Knowledge State" until it became hard to think of Lebanon without AUB, and of AUB without Lebanon.Year after year, Lebanese students from low-income families are less likely than other students to reach advanced levels of academic performance, even when demonstrating the potential to do so.AUB promised to meet the need of every student, to remove barriers of enrolment and ensure that an AUB education is accessible to all admitted students, regardless of family income.Once Rafik Hariri gave all Lebanese students the chance to be part of AUB community. If AUB once again can play a role in equalizing opportunities then it will make the history and the future.
