BEIRUT: Zahle’s first international cultural festival will take place from Aug. 11-17, Tourism Minister Avedis Guidanian and members of the municipality announced Wednesday. The festival, “Oumsiyat Zahle,” will feature international performers such as Patricia Kaas from France, as well as Lebanese musicians, including Wael Kfoury, Hiba Tawaji and artist and producer Oussama Rahbani. The six-day festival will take place at the Zahle Park in east Bekaa. According to a statement from the Tourism Ministry, the festival’s President Magda Rizk said “Oumsiyat Zahle” will “contribute in anchoring the history of the city as well as its cultural and artistic legacy.” In his speech made during the announcement, Guidanian said that “all the festivals, among them ‘Oumsiyat Zahle’ ... will add a great value to the activities already happening in the city.”
