Beirut Madinati activists held a protest Friday outside the city's municipality in Downtown Beirut to protest the ongoing construction of a resort in Ramlet al-Baida, despite a Shura Council decision to temporarily halt it.Activists rallied under the rain in protest of the ongoing works at the site, demanding that Beirut Governor Ziad Chebib implement the Shura Council decision. A delegation from the activist group headed to Chebib's office and handed him a letter discussing the matter.They said that the construction permit had been issued a few days ahead of the Shura Council decision.A wave of protests have taken place at the construction site and outside the Beirut Municipality headquarters over the last year.
