Work to improve medical services is ongoing, Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani said Friday, despite significant pressure on hospitals and the Lebanese health sector.Hasbani noted that the Health Ministry has secured all hospital costs incurred up until July 2016 that fell under signed contracts and within the financial ceiling."The total cost of hospitalization in 2016 reached LL166 billion [$110.2 million]," Hasbani said, adding that "registration [showed] that 850,000 citizens were admitted to hospital in 2016 ". He announced that the Health Ministry was working to prepare an emergency plan that will unburden hospitals, ensuring that beds are not occupied without pressing cause.
