BEIRUT: Coordination between various Lebanese security agencies is essential to deter terrorism, Lebanon’s new State Security chief, Brig. Gen. Tony Saliba, said Saturday.
“Our duty is to restore people’s confidence in their security agencies, particularly the State Security, and we will join efforts to deter those seeking to manipulate [Lebanon’s] security or the reform process,” Saliba reportedly told the directorate’s agents at a ceremony to mark his promotion.
He called for “professional coordination among the different security agencies to fend-off all forms of terrorism, thwart the schemes of the Israeli enemy ... and combat corruption and crime to preserve Lebanon and protect its stability.”
