Suspected drug dealer arrested in Ashrafieh

BEIRUT: Beirut police have arrested a man in Ashrafieh on suspicion of dealing drugs, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Internal Security Forces.

Police were reportedly informed that an individual had been promoting a number of banned substances in the neighborhood, and made the arrest Friday.

The Syrian national, born in 1994, was arrested while on a motorcycle. He was reportedly found to be carrying 33 small bags of various banned substances, including cocaine, morphine, tablets of Buprenorphine and other substances.

The suspect was also carrying a significant quantity of cash – some $840 in addition to LL 451,000 ($297), according to the statement.

The statement added that the suspect had been referred to the judiciary.
