When President Michel Aoun takes the stage at the general debate of the 73rd U.N. General Assembly next week, he will speak about local and regional issues, including resolving the refugee crisis facing Lebanon. Aoun will lead the Lebanese delegation to New York, where representatives from each of the 193 member states will take turns at the podium over five days, beginning Tuesday. With the General Assembly set to make decisions on issues pertaining to peace and security, Aoun is hoping that member states will show their support for the initiative.Aoun has been finalizing his schedule of meetings to be held on the sidelines of the General Assembly, two separate Lebanese diplomats in the U.S. confirmed.Aoun will be accompanied by caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil as well as Lebanon's ambassadors to the U.N. and Washington, Amal Mudallali and Gaby Issa, respectively.
