Condolences flowed after two former MPs passed away over the weekend.Khatib died Saturday following a long battle with illness.Born in 1933, Khatib graduated from military school as a lieutenant in 1955, then became a commander in the Army's second division in 1960 .From 1977 to 1983, Khatib led the Arab Deterrent Force, a peacekeeping force of mainly Syrian troops sent by the Arab League at the peak of Lebanon's 1975-90 Civil War to put an end to the conflict.Zein represented Nabatieh in Parliament from 1962 until 2018, when he stood down in the elections and was replaced by MP Hani Qobeisi.
