Top bankers and officials convened at Baabda Palace Saturday afternoon as fears mounted over the state of Lebanon's financial sector.
President Michel Aoun originally invited Central Bank Gov. Riad Salameh and a number of top bankers, including Salim Sfeir, the head of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, to the presidential palace. But the meeting was also attended by caretaker Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil, caretaker Economy Minister Mansour Bteich – himself a banker – and caretaker Minister of State for Presidency Affairs Salim Jreissati.
